Community Guidelines
Pumply is a community-driven platform for fuel prices in Ghana. Community members like you report prices, availability, and station details so everyone can compare and plan. These guidelines explain what you can report, what we do not allow, and how we keep the platform trustworthy.
Reporting fuel prices
You can report fuel prices (petrol, diesel, LPG) and availability at stations. To keep reports useful:
- Report only when you are physically at the station. Do not report from memory or from another location.
- Use the price shown on the pump or the station board. Do not guess.
- If you are not sure of the price, do not report. Inaccurate reports hurt other users.
Adding and editing stations
You can add new stations or suggest edits to existing ones (name, location, brand, opening hours, etc.). Provide accurate, factual information. Do not create duplicate entries for the same station—use the “Suggest edit” or “Report as duplicate” options when a station already exists or when you think two entries refer to the same place.
Duplicate & distance rule
Pumply may prevent adding a new station that is too close to an existing one (for example, within about 500 metres). We do this to help avoid duplicates and to follow local planning expectations for station spacing in Ghana. We do not claim any official affiliation or legal enforcement; this is an internal quality rule to keep the map clean and useful.
You may still see some stations that appear to break this rule. Common reasons include:
- Legacy or seeded data: Some stations were imported from public or historical datasets before the rule was applied.
- Imprecise coordinates: Mapping and GPS can place stations slightly off, so two entries may look closer than they are on the ground.
- Changes over time: Stations can be expanded, relocated, or renamed; older entries may not yet reflect that.
- Pending review: Some entries may be awaiting review or merge with an existing station.
If you think a station is missing or that two entries are duplicates:
- Use the feedback or report option in the app when available.
- Choose “Report as duplicate” if you believe two stations are the same, or “Suggest edit” to correct details.
- You can also contact us via the links in the footer of this website (e.g. X or LinkedIn). We will review and, where appropriate, merge or update entries.
Prohibited content and abuse
You must not:
- Submit fake, misleading, or deliberately wrong prices.
- Spam the platform (e.g. repeated irrelevant or duplicate reports).
- Create duplicate stations when one already exists for the same place.
- Harass other users, station staff, or the Pumply team.
- Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to submit reports or abuse the system.
- Impersonate others or pretend to represent a fuel station or brand unless you are authorised.
Violations can lead to warnings, rate limits, or loss of access to reporting features or the platform.
Enforcement and moderation
We keep Pumply useful and trustworthy through:
- Review: Reports and new or edited stations may be reviewed before or after they appear. We may correct, merge, or remove content that does not meet these guidelines.
- Moderation: We respond to reports of abuse, spam, fake prices, and duplicate stations. Repeat or serious violations may result in restrictions or bans.
- Rate limits: We may limit how often you can submit reports or add stations to reduce spam and protect data quality.
- Abuse handling: Accounts or devices that violate these guidelines may be warned, limited, or blocked. We may also remove or correct content that is inaccurate or harmful.
